What a lovely wet day, we are in desperate need of this beautiful rain, the air smells better and the trees are taking it all in… the only down point was that the local Shine 2168 event hosted by Sloosh/2168 community health day was held today. What an amazing job the committee achieved considering the poor weather. Over 700 people still ventured out to the Michael Wendon Centre for the health day, lots of fabulous entertainment, including local singers, a fab magician, rides, great music and Kookies n Kream who not only performed but worked with the kids in a workshop.
My young grandson was a little hesitant at first but when I reminded him he’d be wet in the pool anyway he was all on board. Lots of kids were having fun in the pool while others were entertained and all were fed by the amazing Lions club, and locals who manned some brilliant stalls and guess what… it was all free. This amazing initiative is the brain child of some amazing locals and has been happening for some time now…. and each year is being tweaked to better and better every year.
The heavy down pours and overcast meant I didn’t get any pictures but I just wanted to publicly recognise the amazing efforts of people, who like me, know the strengths and value of this amazing area. A big thanks also to the sponsors, while I don’t know them all I know the Liverpool Catholic club, Sloosh Kidscare Inc, YMCA (Michael Wendon Leisure Centre) CAFS and the 2168 resident Action group. I believe, MP’s Chris Hayes, Paul Lynch, and Cllrs Waller & Shelton dropped by as well.
Excellent day all thank you…. you inspire me 🙂
